"A Galant Sisterhood"
The Massillon Woman's Club grew out of the comradeship and service of Massillon women Red Cross workers during the first World War. Its founding and organization were characterized by wisdom, intelligence, thoroughness, generosity and affection. A preliminary meeting was held April 9, 1919, and for over 100 years, the club has flourished under the best spirit of cooperation. It has become a center of community life and thought for the women of Massillon and beyond. We come from all walks of life and our club acts as important factor in civic affairs.
Our organization functions in the stately former home of the McClymonds family. Five Oaks, as it was nicknamed, was gifted to the women of Massillon by Edna McClymonds Wales and Ruth McClymonds Maitland in 1924. The dedication plaque reads:
This home is given to the Massillon Woman's Club in loving remembrance and in perpetuation of the memory of J. Walter McClymonds and Flora Russell McClymonds...

"It gives my sister and me great happiness to give you their home and our home
as a center of community life and thought for the women of Massillon.
A place in which every woman, from whatever walk of life she may come,
shall feel at home in the truest comradeship, which is fostered
by working and playing together, and to the pursuit of the fine and
enduring thing in life - the deepening and the strengthening of life of spirit.
May it be for you, as it has been for us, a place of love, inspiration, and of peace."
Through the years, we have emphasized the things which unite us and we work toward the future with confidence in the continued well-being and efficiency of our Club. We invite you to be a part of this enduring legacy!
